It now runs on Movable Type, which is the blog engine/system that I used when I first started blogging in 2003, after Xanga (which is horrible, or rather, was horrible back then, I’ve never tried it since). While WordPress is good I just thought I’d try MT again, and so far, I’m liking it.

However, there are some changes to the commenting system, which is part of Movable Type’s effort to combat spam. Some of you may have noticed that when this blog was powered by WordPress, it had an extraordinary amount of spam, which persisted even though I updated WordPress and its plugins.

MT’s effort to combat spam basically requires users to sign in before they can comment. Now, I know, WordPress also offered the ability to make users sign in, but the users had to be a member of the site itself, which made things troublesome for me. MT on the other hand, has a more novel approach. It allows users to sign in using their pre-existing accounts at the following sites:
OpenID
LiveJournal
Vox
TypePad
Yahoo!
AIM
WordPress.com
Google

So, instead of having to register at yet another site to comment, just sign in with one of the above services, and you’re ready to go.

And don’t worry, I have no way of keeping a record of your password or anything of the sort. Everything is handled on the systems of the above services. This site is just a pretty face. :P
